Houston, Texas – Caterpillar Oil & Gas is pleased to announce it has completed the acquisition of PEPR Inc., a developer and provider of production optimization software for the gas compression industry. The acquisition includes PEPR’s proprietary gas compressor optimization software and related emissions reporting capabilities for spark-ignited gas engines. The web-based solution enables gas compression customers the ability to monitor reliability metrics and quantify the value of productivity increases and fuel savings. This insight allows operators of gas compressor assets to make data-driven decisions that improve profitability of their operations. PEPR’s software complements the existing suite of Cat® Connect offerings by adding productivity and sustainability solutions. The application is being rebranded from PEPR to Cat Productivity Optimizer and can be offered for both Cat and competitive power solutions, enabling customers to analyze reciprocating engines, electric motors, compressors, cooling systems and panels.
“We’re pleased to offer our gas compression customers a commercialized web-based software tool that enables compressor production optimization. As a result of this acquisition, Caterpillar can bundle with current equipment management solutions including Advanced Condition Monitoring to provide customers with a comprehensive monitoring solution for engines, electric motors, and compressors,” Craig Lange, Caterpillar Oil & Gas Technology Enabled Solutions director noted. “The new Cat Productivity Optimizer differentiates itself in the market by providing advanced analytics that customers utilize to maximize profits by improving productivity and reducing operational costs.”
Headquartered in Calgary, Canada, PEPR Inc. was founded in 2004 to develop software that evaluates, analyzes and provides recommendations to improve performance of revenue-producing assets. Following years of field-testing and customer feedback, PEPR’s developers evolved the software platform into a sophisticated application capable of providing operators with meaningful production, maintenance, and management features beyond traditional industry fleet assessment tools.
The emissions reporting module provides customers a detailed account of emissions constituents across their fleet by calculating fuel rates and other operating characteristics. The application compares actual versus permitted emissions levels, enabling customers to make decisions for site efficiencies, including reductions in fuel gas usage and operational costs.
The Productivity Optimizer and the emissions reporting module are available from the global Cat dealer network and will be offered as a stand-alone application or combined with other equipment management solutions. “Our customers are consistently asking us for solutions that help make their operations leaner, smarter and more productive; the new Cat Productivity Optimizer and emissions reporting module will help them accomplish these objectives,” Lange noted.
