Houston, TX – Caterpillar Oil & Gas is pleased to announce the availability of the Cat® 3512E (HD) land well service engine. The United States EPA Tier 4 Final 3512E (HD) engine is offered with ATAAC and SCAC configurations in two power ratings: 1678 bkW (2250 bhp) @ 1800 rpm and 1864 bkW (2500 bhp) @ 1800 rpm.
The Cat 3512E recently completed over two years of successful field-testing in operations throughout North America. “Customers have been incredibly impressed with the torque curve on the engine – it’s superior to all previous products in this class, and far surpasses industry standards,” Dan Schartman Caterpillar Oil & Gas project manager stated. “The other big win for customers is that the certified 3512E engine meets Tier 4 Final regulations with a proven NOx reduction system along with passive aftertreatment. This allows simplified maintenance, improved service intervals, and more hours on the job. We built the 3512E off of an industry leading 3512 engine platform, adding new features based of off customer feedback, resulting in a best-in-class model.”
Manufactured in Lafayette, Indiana, the Cat 3512E (HD) Tier 4 Final engine meets emissions standards with a NOx Reduction System (NRS) and Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC). The platform does not require the use of additional fluids such as DEF. For ease of installation, Caterpillar provides customers with a turn-key after treatment solution and various engine attachments. Customers also have the option to purchase the engine with the air cleaners, after treatment and exhaust system installed from the factory. “The 3512E Tier 4 engine was engineered to be a plug and play solution,” Derek Kamp, Caterpillar Oil & Gas product definition engineer said. “The engine is ready to be put on a trailer and run – there’s no need for brackets, mufflers or additional mounting equipment.”
Customers will also enjoy lower owning and operating costs with the new 3512E (HD) Tier 4 Final engine. Compared to the 3512C (HD) Tier 2 engine, there is up to a 5% improvement in fuel economy and increased ambient and altitude capability, which results in fewer trailers on
location. In addition, maintenance intervals have been increased to a 10,000 hour overhaul, a 25% improvement in comparison to previous models. Customers using field test units have been impressed with the results. “The 3512E has performed as advertised right out of the gate” Michael Michaelson, Universal Well Services engineering team leader commented. “Caterpillar has proven itself as a great company to work with; they stand behind their products and work through issues”
The Cat 3512E (HD) Tier 4 Final engine is distributed, sold and supported through the worldwide Cat dealer network with trained technicians to ensure service support is never out of reach.
