Houston, TX – Caterpillar Oil & Gas is pleased to announce the delivery of the first Cat® HazPak (hazardous area package) to WOMA (Australia) Pty Ltd. Two Cat C4.4 HazPaks will be utilized in a high-pressure water pump application, specifically WOMA’s new Group 2 T3 IIA offshore vacuum module. Cat HazPaks are designed and packaged by Pyroban, a UK-based Caterpillar company. The Cat solutions for WOMA are Pyroban-protected and fully air-controlled, with one sea water and separator tank for flexibility of either independent use or stronger combined use.
EPSA Cat, the local Cat dealer in Australia, partnered with Pyroban and WOMA, to bring the solutions to the region. “The specific challenge around this project was time, because we needed to get the highly-specialized Cat HazPaks delivered to WOMA within 12 weeks,” Steve Riley EPSA sales representative noted. “Fortunately, it was a seamless collaboration and we delivered on budget within the necessary timeframe. Safety will continue to be critical to the offshore industry and we’re pleased to be able to offer specified, designed Zone 2 power solutions to the Asia Pacific region.”
Historically, Pyroban provided research and development, manufacturing experience, specialized solutions and certifications for gas and diesel engines operating in hazardous areas from its UK headquarters but lacked the breadth of distribution to serve and support all regions of the world. “When Caterpillar acquired Pyroban, our distribution model changed to incorporate the Cat worldwide dealer network. As a result, we are now able to collaborate with local Cat dealers and customers, to bring Cat hazardous solutions to even the most remote locations in the world,” Rob Double, Pyroban business manager stated.
Cat C4.4 HazPaks are hazardous location power units designed for specialized and demanding operations in the oilfield. The units are hazardous location–certified from the factory to minimize installation design, time and cost and are certified to operate in potentially explosive environments. Additionally, the Cat C4.4 HazPaks are fully-certified Category 3G equipment Group 2 T3 IIA for use in a Zone 2 area. The C4.4 HazPak maintains high power over broad range of operating speeds to improve performance and offers a steady torque rise to provide superior load acceptance. Ambient and altitude capabilities on the HazPak are also optimized for operating flexibility.
