Lafayette, Indiana – Caterpillar Oil & Gas is pleased to announce the Cat® CG137-12 oilfield gas generator set has received U.S. EPA Tier 2 SI Non-road Mobile certification. Primarily used in oil and gas power generation applications, the CG137-12 is available with power ratings of 400 ekW @ 60 Hz and can be acquired through the Cat dealer network as a pricelist option.
“The introduction of this certified solution expands our range of gas generator set offerings that meet emissions regulations and are tailored to power generation applications in the oil and gas industry,” said Venkat Jayaraman, product marketing manager. “The CG137-12 is a powerful addition to any petroleum site, with fuel flexibility that allows our customers to use flare gas to lower fuel costs while minimizing gas flaring. Its rugged packaging also helps minimize site preparation and lower installation costs without sacrificing performance.”
The CG137-12 offers excellent transient performance, capable of accepting 50% and 30% load steps that meet ISO 8528 G1 and G2 standards, respectively, while operating on a wide range of gas quality—from wellhead gas to pipeline gas. The generator set maintains its full rating up to Caterpillar Methane Number (MN) 45 and accepts fuels down to MN 30 with 10% derate. Its heavy-duty construction is ideal for withstanding harsh oilfield conditions.
The CG137-12 also features the latest technology to boost performance, improve uptime and lower operating costs. The ADEMTM A4 electronic control module manages fuel delivery and provides flexible fuel mapping for quick response to varying application needs. The EMCP 4.4 control panel offers a simplified operator interface, engine and generator protection, and programmable inputs and outputs—as well as the ability to parallel up to eight generator sets.
Other key features include an oversized generator designed for block load acceptance and motor starting applications; a heavy-duty base with tow bars and forklift pockets ideal for loading, transport and unloading operations; an open-skid configuration designed to integrate drop-over enclosures; and a four-point lifting structure.
“Caterpillar and our dealers are committed to offering EPA-certified gas engine products that meet customers’ specific application needs,” Jayaraman said. “We look forward to delivering more certified Cat power ranges to oilfields in the near future.”
