For Worldwide Release: August, 2020
DEERFIELD, IL – Caterpillar Inc. today announced the availability of a new 3,000 kW power node for the Cat® 3516E diesel generator set in 60 Hz standby and mission critical applications. The launch of the uprated Cat 3516E generator set further expands Caterpillar’s industry leadership in diesel generator sets with high power densities that are designed to deliver the lowest owning and operating costs in their class.
Providing certification to U.S. EPA Tier 2 emissions standards, the Cat® 3516E diesel generator set offers a 19,900-lb (9,000-kg) weight reduction over a leading competitive product offering the same power output, while occupying 11 percent less floor space. These features help to reduce overall site preparation, transportation, cranage, building support, and other installation costs for customers.
The Cat 3516E diesel generator set is available with an optional high-ambient radiator that enables the production of full power in ambient temperatures of up to 131 degrees Fahrenheit (55 degrees Celsius) without derating.
Cat 3516E diesel generator sets are designed to meet the NFPA power restoration requirement for Level 1 systems and accept 100 percent block load in one step. They meet ISO 8528-5 G3 requirements for steady state and load acceptance.
The new power ratings are available with a low-, medium-, or high-voltage frame alternator that enables quick load acceptance through exceptional motor starting capabilities. This feature eliminates the need to oversize the generator set due to motor starting requirements.
The Cat 3516E generator set utilizes the field-proven Cat ADEM™ A5 engine control module (ECM). This module seamlessly integrates all engine functions including ignition, governing, and air-fuel ratio control for optimal performance while protecting the engine.
Caterpillar delivers innovative power systems engineered for durability, reliability, and value. The company offers worldwide product support, with parts and service available globally through the Cat authorized service and dealer network. In addition, dealer technicians are trained to service every aspect of Cat equipment.
