Hamburg, Germany – At the 2016 SMM Exhibition, Caterpillar Marine will demonstrate its enduring commitment to bring valued, innovative solutions to maritime customers’ operations. Of particular note at this year’s show is the company’s comprehensive Asset Intelligence offering, a proprietary technology that utilizes analytics and prognostics solutions to prevent and diagnose potential issues before they manifest on vessels.
“We understand the maritime industry is encountering unique challenges and as Caterpillar, we are prepared to help our customers navigate through the uncertainty with solutions that will help their operations succeed,” Alexander Kohse, Caterpillar Marine global commercial segment manager noted. “Our customers can fully realize the benefits of our new technologies, like Asset Intelligence, and we’re committed to demonstrating our capabilities at this year’s show.”
In addition to Asset Intelligence, Caterpillar will also focus on its enhanced hybrid propulsion offerings for the tug and salvage industry, specifically the Hybrid Propulsion Thruster System. Developed as a result of Caterpillar’s holistic approach to optimizing vessel operations and reduced total cost of ownership for owner, the Hybrid Propulsion System is an unprecedented new market contender for operators interested in increased efficiency gains and fuel savings. The new propulsion set-up outperforms diesel mechanical systems in all partial load conditions, and offers improved fuel economy and substantial through-life savings for a variety of offshore support vessels (OSV).
Finally, Caterpillar will continue to highlight its all-inclusive LNG solutions for a wide-range of vessels, including cruise ships, ocean liners, ferries and container ships. Via its MaK™ brand, the company is working with Hamburg-headquartered LNG and cryogenic specialist Marine Service GmbH to offer tailor-made systems for retrofit and newbuilds. The cooperation means that every link in the engineering chain from bunker flange to propeller – and everything in between – is available from a single source.
Visitors are encouraged to visit the Caterpillar stand in Hall A4 at Booth #206. The company’s industry experts will be delivering short presentations on trending topics, solutions and innovations at the stand starting at 14:00 on every day of the show. Additionally, visitors will be able to uniquely engage with technical content, Stories from the Sea and presentations through interactive, touch-screen tables on the show floor.
