With over two billion operating hours around the world, Cat gas compression engines stand up to the most demanding oil and gas transportation applications. Advanced combustion technology enables the engines to burn a variety of fuels including field gas, natural gas, coal bed methane, wellhead gas, propane, and low-energy gas. Caterpillar offers the widest range of prime mover choices, with power ratings from 71 bkW (95 bhp) to 6,100 bkW (8,180 bhp).

The G3600 natural gas combustion engine has been in production for over 28 years and continues to prove itself in the field as a robust performer. Available in four different models, the G3600 series engine has ratings ranging from 1875 – 5350 bhp.  The G3600 series engine with ADEM™ A4 ECM Technology provides the benefits of lower compression ratios, an enhanced piston design, AFRC improvements, an improved intake air system., and superior camshaft design. Versatile combustion technology enables the engines to run on a wide variety of fuels virtually anywhere in the world.

Similar to the G3600 engine series, customers can expect the same performance and reliability from Cat G3500 engines. With a wide power range of 524 – 1725 bhp, the G3500 engine family offers the versatility to meet your application needs.

Offering the largest power range for upstream & midstream engine-driven reciprocating gas compression at 6145 – 8180 bhp, the GCM34 provides low fuel consumption and emissions, and high reliability, all while delivering the power you need for your operation. Whether you’re powering pipeline transmission, processing, or gas storage and withdrawal, these 12- and 16-cylinder, long stroke units deliver peak performance under most ambient and load conditions.

Cat electric motors for gas compression offer zero site emissions, virtually no maintenance, less noise, and the same quality and productivity you expect from gas engines. To learn more about electric motors view the Cat electric motors infographic.
