Pantropic CAT Charges New Life Into Aging Vessels

It’s inevitable – engines have to be replaced eventually. The repowering process can be daunting, and one that vessel owners put off, but Pantropic Cat’s experience in repowering vessels makes it an option worth considering. With a robust Authorized Marine Dealer (AMD) network and access to proven technology like the C32 engine, Pantropic Cat® is making it easier than ever to update your power.

Pantropic’s eight AMDs are located throughout the South Florida region, and they are all highly skilled at replacing older Cat® (or other branded) engines with newer, cleaner, more reliable technology and iron.  The presence of AMDs allows Pantropic to expedite repowering and servicing, often reducing downtime by weeks. These AMDs follow the same rigorous standards that all Cat dealers are held to—it’s like having access to nine service centers instead of one.

Repowering makes the most sense for owners of pleasure craft and commercial vessels, including barges, dredges and container boats. Prior to repowering, Pantropic assesses the owner’s needs for their vessel, whether it is increasing the vessel’s speed, efficiency or addressing some other concern. The repowering process is also an ideal time for vessel owners to service additional vessel systems, as Pantropic’s AMDs can perform any needed maintenance, even if it’s just laying on some new paint.

Although Pantropic can install a wide range of Cat Marine engines, it is the C32 that stands out for its impressive array of features. The C32 is an ideal replacement for older two-stroke engines that many older vessels are fitted with. The shift to the C32 will mean increased fuel efficiency, lower emissions, better reliability and quieter operations while increasing overall lifespan. Transitioning from a two-stroke to a newer model will improve parts availability as well, ensuring service is faster and more affordable. Finally, the C32 is lighter than competing engines and offers a wider operating speed range, driving efficiency and power up even further.

Stop by the Caterpillar / Pantropic booth #F407 the Miami International Boat Show, Key Biscayne Island location. Caterpillar will be showcasing a C9 cutaway and C7.1 propulsion engine, in addition to having experts on hand to talk about why a Cat re-power engine is right for you.
