SAAM Towage and Caterpillar Marine Sign Global Services Agreement
Caterpillar to provide expanded services to support SAAM Towage
Houston, Texas – SAAM Towage and Caterpillar Marine have signed a long-term Global Services Agreement designed to support the company’s fleet with increased uptime and efficiency through planned and preventative maintenance, supported by Caterpillar Marine digital solutions. As the largest tug operator in the Americas, SAAM provides port terminal, towage, and logistics services for international operations in 14 countries throughout North, Central, and South America.
This agreement includes coverage for more than 200 Cat® engines and will be supported by a focused team of Caterpillar experts working with the global Cat dealer network to provide technical support and fleet management services. By working with Caterpillar, SAAM Towage will receive support of their ESG efforts, promoting sustainable operations for their fleet.

“We’ve been collaborating with SAAM Towage for many years, and the new service agreement enables SAAM to focus on their daily business while Caterpillar manages services for Cat engines in SAAM Towage’s fleet. It supports SAAM’s vision for sustainability, growth, and performance,” says Steven Tibbetts, Global Services Manager for Caterpillar Marine.
Caterpillar is the largest business partner in power solutions to SAAM Towage and with the new long-term services agreement, SAAM Towage will receive additional coverage, support, and benefit from improved operations through fleet management services and the use of new technologies.
