TYCROP Orders First Cat® Power Solutions with Dynamic Gas Blending (DGB) and Product Link for Well Stimulation Applications

Calgary, Canada - Caterpillar Oil & Gas announced today that the first order of Cat® 3512C engines with Dynamic Gas Blending (DGB) for well stimulation and Product Link™ has been placed for 20 trailers manufactured by TYCROP. The Cat 3512C (HD) engines with DGB will each provide 2500 hp @ 1900 rpm of rated power and be manufactured in an Air To Air After Cooled (ATAAC) configuration. The EPA Tier II emissions certified DGB solutions will also feature Product Link, the Caterpillar enterprise telematics solution for comprehensive engine management.  Additionally, TYCROP selected the Cat TH55-E70 transmission to be packaged with the 3512C DGB power solutions for the trailers. Cat dealer Finning Canada led the Caterpillar efforts on the sale and will continue to deliver stellar support and service to TYCROP

“TYCROP has been a long-standing Caterpillar customer and we’re pleased to again partner with them as they incorporate the first Cat power solutions with dual fuel technology for pressure pumping and Product Link on their trailers,” Aaron Jenkins, Caterpillar Oil & Gas Canada territory sales manager noted. “By selecting cutting-edge products with the most innovative technology available, TYCROP can be confident their customers will be able to maximize both the efficiency and overall performance of their wellsite operations.”

Joel Harrod, Finning Canada senior vice president – Power Systems added, “The Finning  and TYCROP partnership has been instrumental in bringing these exciting new technologies to market.”

The Cat DGB system for well stimulation allows for maximum substitution of diesel fuel with natural gas during high pressure pumping operations. Along with the benefit of realizing significant fuel cost savings by substituting diesel fuel with natural gas, there are several other key features of the Cat DGB system that make it a winning solution for well stimulation.  Operators can run the system with confidence on CNG, LNG, and field gas with a lower heating value between 850 and 1,250 Btu, knowing that the engine is maintaining United States EPA Tier 2 level emissions with the combined muffler and Cat Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) included in the DGB kit.  The system is capable of achieving maximum substitution at various speeds and loads over the full operating range, and will automatically adjust to changes in gas quality without the need to perform any recalibration or adjustments to the system during or between jobs.

Product Link, an offering from the Cat Connect suite of solutions, wirelessly connects customers to Cat equipment, providing customers with essential information for their operations. From fuel burn and percent of gas substitution to hours and diagnostic codes, Product Link data helps operators make timely, fact-based decisions that can boost the efficiency of their fleet and productivity of their job sites.

Caterpillar well stimulation experts will be on hand and available for questions at the Caterpillar booth #3333 (outdoor) at the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary, Canada. TYCROP will also be exhibiting at the Global Petroleum Show at booth # 3734.
