For Release in India: January 2024
Release Number: 19PR24
Cat® 320D3 and 323D3 Excavators are known for delivering highly efficient, productive and reliable operation with low fuel consumption. Today’s models integrate the latest fuel efficient electrohydraulic (EH) system to further lower fuel consumption by up to 10% compared to previous models. The new EH joysticks offer improved excavator control with less effort required by the operator.
Reducing costs and the chance for leaks, the simplified hydraulic system eliminates 70 m of hose length and more than 100 fittings. Joining the 320D3, the improved 323D3 design eliminates the drain and pilot filters to streamline servicing and lower costs. Its new hydraulic oil filter replacing capsule with extended filter life offers easy changes.
Improved operator comfort
Both the 320D3 and 323D3 feature a completely reengineered cab design with metal shell for improved durability. The spacious cab is 80 mm longer to offer more legroom and has a new front windshield and more glass on the doors for improved visibility. Increasing operator comfort, the new suspension seat features higher quality fabric and includes a crank lever for easy seat height adjustments. The seat’s dual slider mechanism allows operators to adjust the leg and arm lengths independently. Offering a modern look and feel, the console includes a new controller for engine speeds, power modes and push button start.
The new 203 mm touchscreen monitor eliminates analogue gauges of the previous design and offers easy access to menus for simplified machine operation. The monitor integrates video feed from the new optional rearview camera to improve operating safety. The standard radio features Bluetooth connectivity with USB and auxiliary ports. Controlled through the touchscreen monitor, the revamped air conditioning system includes automatic temperature control and multiple vents throughout the cab for fast cooling and window defrosting.
Increased durability
Both the boom and stick are now heavy duty (HD) components for the 320D3, increasing durability in tough applications compared to previous models. The upgraded boom integrates plate thickness increases in high stress areas and a boom nose redesign, which enables this model to be fitted with a larger GD1.14 m3 bucket. Faster and offering up to a 10% increase in front service life, a new bucket cylinder design helps improve efficiency in cleaning and light loading applications. Undercarriage options include the standard 4.04 m design or new optional 4.26 m long undercarriage for increased stability and to accommodate the 1.14 m3 bucket.
Upgrades to the car body and track frame for the 323D3 increase durability when operating in quarries. Improved roller guard bracing limits bending for a stiffer and stronger track. The enhanced two roller guard is standard for this model with three and full-length guard designs available to improve reliability and prevent derailing when working on slopes. A new 1.2 m3 severe duty abrasion bucket option features improved abrasion resistance materials and fabricated side cutters and protectors for easier customer repairs.
Due to the cab’s enhanced design, the 320D3 and 323D3 excavators can now be equipped with an optional roll over protective structure (ROPS) to elevate operator protection and meet India’s Directorate of General Mines Safety (DGMS) regulations. Additionally, both machines can be equipped with a new optional falling object guarding system (FOGS) that complies with ISO 10262 Level II standards to protect the operator from large falling debris.
Simplified maintenance, telematics updates
Like the 320D3, the 323D3 now delivers a 15% maintenance parts reduction with a 50% longer hydraulic oil filter change interval – 3,000 hours compared to the previous 2,000 hours – and elimination of the drain and pilot filters. Virtually all daily maintenance can be performed at ground level on both excavators for easier access to daily maintenance points and increased safety. A 6,000-hour hydraulic oil change interval allows these machines to spend more time at the jobsite and less time in the shop.
Known for delivering low fuel consumption, the 320D3 and 323D3 models can be equipped with a new optional fuel meter that offers the ability to remotely track machine fuel usage via Cat VisionLink®. Additionally, the machine can be remotely derated to 50% operating capabilities as a theft deterrent and to increase the chances of recovering a stolen machine.
