LEVEL III

Professional Operator Certification

This program is intended to evaluate the operating and application efficiency (productivity) of individuals that have existing operating experience on a machine family as measured against our competency standards. Students will be assessed on their proficiencies during the certification process. Scoring includes the ability to conduct a thorough walk-around inspection, pass a safety quiz with a score of 100% and a written knowledge assessment with a minimum score of 80%.

This is NOT intended for inexperienced operators and DOES NOT include training. At least five years operating applicable heavy equipment is required. Those wanting to attempt certification must successfully complete Level II courses prior.

Upon successful completion of the course, each graduate will receive:

  • Graduation verification number assigned and entered into the Caterpillar data registry
  • Cat belt buckle bearing the graduate's name and number
  • Attendees who do NOT meet the expected requirements will receive a Certificate of Participation

How much does it cost?

Program Cost
At a Caterpillar facility: $1700 US per student/per day/per machine family. Includes instructor, machines, and classroom materials. Some machine families may not be available at a Demonstration & Learning Center. Please check for availablity. DOES NOT include transportation and hotel accommodations. Some machine families may not be available at a Demonstration & Learning Center. Please check for availability.

At a customer job site: $1700 US per student, per machine family attempted with one instructor travel day at $1200 US plus expenses billed at cost. International travel may require an additional travel day.

Program Duration
Typically 1 to 2 days per machine family, up to a maximum of 4 days for complex applications. Includes testing and in-the-iron activities.

Cancellation Fee
Up to fifteen calendar days prior to start of the class, cancellation fee is 25% of total program cost. Within fifteen days, cancellation fee is 50% of total program cost.
