The Lorenzen also has 1x Cat C32 diesel generator set onboard to provide emergency power. In addition to being the largest Cat engines ever installed on a United States governmental vessel, the MaK power solutions are also largest Cat engines ever delivered to any United States government or military branch. Built by VT Halter Marine in Pascagoula, MS, Lorenzen is a 12,575-ton, 534-foot vessel crewed by a blend of government and civilian personnel. The vessel was delivered to the Military Sealift Command and formally accepted by the US government in January 2012. Once fully operational, the vessel will conduct a variety of missions on behalf of the U.S. government.
