As the demand for unique outdoor spaces continues, we take a look at some of the 2021 fall landscaping trends you need to know for your business.
John Janes | Landscaping Marketing Manager
The past two years have changed the way people live and interact, and one of the biggest changes that impacts landscaping businesses is a growing demand for outdoor spaces. Let’s explore some of the 2021 fall landscaping trends that you need to know.
Because many places across the country are experiencing more unpredictable weather, it’s important to customers to have plants that can stand up to tough conditions. Depending on where you live, low maintenance plants that are fire smart or water smart are in demand. Explore these different options with your customers to help them understand what will work best for your region as well as the types of weather you usually experience in the colder months.
A trend that began in 2020 and continues through this year is the desire for backyard living spaces. As we head into cooler temperatures and people look for safe ways to socialize with family and friends, especially around the holidays, the demand for these spaces will grow. Things like fire pits, water features and patios are all what customers are looking for to make the outdoors calming and comfortable.
As long summer nights give way to shorter days and early sunsets, customers are also looking for ways to use their outdoor living spaces at night. Discuss lighting options with your customers to help them enjoy their outdoor areas more.
Both commercial and residential customers are growing more interested in seasonal displays at their homes or offices, especially around the holidays. Customers want a mix of colors and textures to liven up their space as the weather turns a bit chillier. Now is a great time to explore adding this as a service for your landscape business. It does need good attention to detail and coordination with your customers, so make sure you have a detail-oriented person on the job.
While these are just some of the 2021 fall landscaping trends that will impact your business, there are sure to be others that arise as we see what the season has in store for us. Make sure you’ve got the tools you need with Cat® solutions for the landscape industry.
