ANYTHING A 2,500HP PUMP CAN DO, THE 3,000HP CAT® WS305 CAN DO BETTER

Is frac pumping more difficult today than it was a decade ago? The increase in both pressures and rates across regions would indicate the answer is “yes.” We’re seeing pumping pressures range from 8,000 to 10,000 psi in south and west Texas, 10,000 psi and higher in the northeast U.S. and above 12,000 psi in east Texas and Louisiana. Pumping rates, along with sand volume, are trending up as well.

Tougher pumping demands a tougher pump, and none’s built for the challenge better than the Cat® WS305. This 3,000-horsepower pump can do anything your 2,500-horsepower pump can do — and do it better. Here’s why:

  1. It does more with less effort.
With a stroke length of 10 inches, the WS305 pushes 30% more fluid per revolution than a 2,500-horsepower pump. You can run it at a lower speed — as little as half the load — and still get all the power you need to get the job done. The WS305 lasts longer because you don’t have to work it as hard as smaller pumps.

  2. It’s bigger for a reason.
The WS305 is beefier all around — not just in horsepower and stroke length, but in bearing size too. It’s built to tackle rising pressures and rates. Ask a 2,500-horsepower pump to handle some of today’s tough pumping applications, and it’s just not going to last as long as you want it to. (Does bigger mean lots of modifications to your trailers? Not necessarily. Three-axle trucks should only require modest alterations.)

  3. It drives down downtime and maintenance costs.
So just how long will the WS305 last? It’s designed to sync with the life of your Cat engine and transmission, and that means 10,000+ pumping hours — or more. In fact, one customer running the WS305 inspected the pumps at the 13,000-hour milestone and reported that they still look “brand new.” Syncing maintenance and rebuild/replacement intervals means less downtime and lower service costs for you.

Bonus: Are you considering electric fracking? We’re convinced our Dynamic Gas Blending (DGB) engines deliver a more cost-effective, equally sustainable solution — but we’re here to meet your needs whether you operate traditional or e-frac trailers (or both). The WS305 delivers all the same benefits when paired with electric motors or gas turbines.

Take a look at the numbers to see what the WS305 can do for your operation, then talk to your local Cat dealer about putting this bigger-is-better 3,000-horsepower pump to work on your trailers.

Bigger Is Better

More flow, flexibility, load-carrying capability and output in the same footprint — just four of the reasons we went bigger than the industry standard with our WS305 Pump for well service.
