A SAFER SITE IS IN PLAIN SIGHT

Working in construction can be risky. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports that one in five worker deaths is a construction worker. And a National Institutes of Health study found construction workers are 71% more likely to be injured on the job than those in other lines of work. How can you help decrease these statistics?

One of the leading contributors to worksite accidents is poor visibility. Cat® Camera Systems can help reduce blind spots and increase operator awareness — resulting in a safer site for equipment, and more importantly, people.

Choose from three options: Cat® Detect with Smart Camera, Cat® Detect with Surround Cameras or Cat® Detect with Rear Camera.

CAT® DETECT WITH SMART CAMERA

Smart cameras monitor people as they move around the machine and alert the operator to ever-changing site conditions. The frequency and intensity of visual and audible alarms in the cab increase as people get closer to the machine, minimizing “alert fatigue.”

The Smart Camera system is built to stand up to tough conditions and adapt to fit your application requirements.

Visible Benefits for Your Operation

The safety benefits of the Smart Camera system are clear. It helps increase visibility which can minimize unwanted contact with other equipment, objects and people. And it alerts the operator when a person is detected around the machine.

A safer operation leads to other advantages too:

• Fewer unwanted human/equipment interactions.

• Reduced need for spotters on-site, which reduces risk and lowers labor cost.

• Greater operator confidence, which leads to increased productivity, accuracy and speed.

Increasing Safe Operation is Easy

The Smart Camera system makes it simple to increase operator awareness and protect people.

• The smart camera mounted on the machine actively looks for people behind the machine, providing another set of eyes on the ground.

• A high-definition touchscreen display provides the operator with additional views around the machine and engages with the operator when a person is detected behind the machine.

• Intelligent alerts notify operators when people are nearby. The frequency and intensity of visual and audible alerts increase as people get closer to the machine.

CAT® DETECT WITH SURROUND CAMERAS

Accidents on construction sites result in more than 150,000 injuries a year, reports from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show. That’s one injured worker for every 10 on the job, according to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Limited visibility can play a role in these accidents.

Surround Cameras help your operators work more confidently and keep your ground crew safe by giving your operators a bird's eye view along with a greater awareness of their surroundings.

THE ADVANTAGES ARE CRYSTAL CLEAR

Surround Cameras help reduce blind spots and improve operator awareness of their surroundings. This helps minimize unwanted contact with other equipment, objects and people on-site, so you can:

• Increase safe operation to help avoid accidents and related downtime.

• Reduce the need for spotters on-site to lower site risk and labor costs.

• Boost operator confidence to improve productivity, accuracy and speed.

ACHIEVE YOUR VISION OF SAFER OPERATION

Surround Cameras help your operators work more confidently and keep your ground crew safe.

Here’s how it works:

• Rugged, vibration-resistant cameras (three or four) mount on the outside of the machine. Point the cameras to the front, rear, and/or sides of the machine, as well as buckets and attachments, to increase visibility.

• Live images in the cab let operators see views from all cameras at once, providing a bird’s-eye view around the machine and a larger, dedicated view on the left side of the display.

CAT® DETECT WITH REAR CAMERA

Nearly 21% of total workplace fatalities in the United States occur in the construction industry, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics. We know your people come first and that’s where Rear Camera comes in.

Rear Camera gives operators an extra set of eyes. Equipped with a high-definition camera and a touchscreen display mounted in the cab, Rear Camera offers a view of what’s behind the machine. With more visibility, there’s less risk and more productivity at your jobsite.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Rear Camera is a multi-component safety system designed to increase operator visibility behind the machine and awareness of their surroundings.

Here’s how:

• A high-definition camera placed at the back of the machine gives operators rear visibility.

• An in-cab mounted display offers the operators a high-resolution view — allowing them to notice small, important details.

• Real-time transmission shows operators what’s happening, while it’s happening — giving the operator the fastest reaction time possible.

• View options gives operators the choice of a rear view at all times, or when the machine is in reverse only.
