Heavy Equipment Operator Training
Instructor-led training programs will take your best operators and make them better. Caterpillar offers the following three levels of operator training.
Level I and Level II classroom and in-the-iron training certification covers:
- Safety (personal, site and machine)
- Walk-around inspections
- Operators compartment
- Start up/shut down procedures
- Basic operating procedures based on industry requirements
- Basic earthmoving fundamentals so an individual can develop skills to operate equipment safely and proficiently
Attendees receive a Certificate of Completion. Class sizes are limited to 4-6 students with a duration of two days per product family and can be delivered at your site or one of our Demonstration & Learning Centers.
Level I – Competent Operator Training course is designed for entry-level individuals interested in heavy equipment operation.
Level II – Professional Operator Training course is designed for experienced heavy equipment operators with 3 or more years of experience. Experienced participants benefit by refining operating techniques and learning application tips and knowledge.
Level III – Professional Operator Certification is an evaluation of the experienced operator skill set and coaching to fine-tune these skills. Certification is earned through demonstration of skills by completing established operational tasks to industry standards. Program ensures efficient operation by machine family in a number of applications.
- Successful completion of a Level II class is a prerequisite
- Participants need to demonstrate the ability to conduct a thorough walk-around inspection, pass a safety quiz with a score of 100% and a written knowledge assessment with a minimum score of 80%
- Participants that meet these requirements earn a Certificate of Registry
- Participants that DO NOT meet these requirements will receive a certificate of participation
- This course is intended for experienced heavy equipment operators
