The Cat Reman process begins when you return used engine components — known as core — to your authorized Cat dealer. They’ll inspect it and issue a core refund, which you can use as credit toward your purchase of a Cat Reman complete engine.1
Once the dealer inspects and approves the core, it goes through an intensive remanufacturing and salvage process at one of Caterpillar’s remanufacturing facilities. There, components are disassembled down to individual piece parts, cleaned and inspected.
Then, they’re remanufactured to Caterpillar performance specifications with all the latest engineering updates. Ultimately, Cat Reman engines offer like new performance and, with core return, they’re available to customers for a fraction of the price of new with core return.1
Your authorized Cat dealer can help you decide if you need repairs, a rebuild or a full replacement. Incorporating fully assembled Cat Reman engines can shorten your repair time and, when you return core1 can even save you money. The good news is that Cat Reman has an engine option for many on-highway applications.
Some of the components you may be able to secure for an engine repair or rebuild include precious metals kits [link to PMK article when it is published], air compressors, cylinder packs, injectors, oil pumps, turbochargers … and the list doesn’t end there.
