SHOULD I CHOOSE HEAVY EQUIPMENT REBUILDING (OR REFURBISHING) VS. REPAIRING?

The answer depends on your situation and priorities. Here’s a good rule of thumb:

• Do you only need to replace a few components or fix a minor issue? Are you planning to replace this machine soon or use it infrequently? Does it need to be back on the job ASAP? Repairing heavy equipment may be faster and more cost-effective.

• Does your machine need major repairs? Do you plan on using it for a while? Are you flexible on timing? Rebuilding (or refurbishing) heavy equipment may be more economical. And don’t overlook the other advantages of a rebuild. You can restore a machine’s original performance and productivity, add optional upgrades and enhancements and even increase resale value.

Every Cat Certified Rebuild machine undergoes an extensive rebuild process. It includes more than 350 tests and inspections, the latest engineering updates, reconditioning work not included in typical overhauls and the automatic replacement of parts that don’t meet strict reusability standards. A Cat Certified Rebuild machine receives a new product identification number (PIN) and a same-as-new warranty.
