LEVEL 1: OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE

DESCRIPTION

The technician at this level is expected to: Maintain engine running within Caterpillar specs. Know when to “call” for help, where to find/get answers, and how to provide adequate information on systems issue or malfunction.

LEVEL 2: ENGINE REPAIR & PERFORMANCE

DESCRIPTION

The technician at this level is expected to: Manage the failure analysis to arrive at the most probably root cause of failure. Make inform decisions concerning parts reusability through proper inspection and metrology techniques.

  • Crankshaft Deflection

  • Initial Startup

LEVEL 3: ENGINE REPAIR & PERFORMANCE

DESCRIPTION

The technician at this level is expected to:

  • Address engine systems issues to minimize downtime
  • Have general understanding of the total package & application (engine + driven equipment)
  • Remain up-to-date with engine changes/updates
